Greek Summer School 2008

Evia Hotel and Resort (near the village of Eretria about 1.5 hours north of Athens.)

Dates: 25-31 August, 2008

Theme: “Signs of Oneness”

This year’s programme offers a dynamic mix of talks, intensive courses, creative workshops, and entertainment, as well as daily programmes for children, junior youth and youth.

The morning programme starts with the “day opening” for all ages, with a devotional, storytelling and singing, followed by a short keynote speech and a short talk. After that there is a choice of 4 intensive courses (2 in English and 2 in Greek) for 1 ½ hours a day for 5 days. After a long “siesta”, with time for swimming, socializing or napping, participants can develop their creativity with a choice of artistic workshops for 2 hours a day, or attend a “talk-shop”. The evening programmes provide a variety of entertainment, including music, possibly film and definitely dancing.

Our guest speakers this year are Counsellor Dr. Nadia Koppold from Greece, Professor Rabi Musah from the USA/Ghana, who will give talks and an intensive course on “One Common Faith” and Mr Raymond Switzer from Hungary, who will give an intensive course on “Conscious Courtship” and give keynote speeches on marriage. Dr. Bernhard Koppold from Greece will give a course (in Greek) on “Searching for Truth: Christ and Bahá’u’lláh” and Ms. Lida Mirra and Dr. Iris Vatsellas will give mini courses on “Adolescents under Pressure” and “The Stork Nest and the Book of Certitude” respectively. All the main programmes are translated into English or Greek respectively, while the intensive courses will not have translation.

The creative workshops, held every afternoon, include a Choir with Alex Zografov, Stained Glass with Irma Lollis, Painting with Jo Harding, and Wood Carving with Peter Ditchev. Other creative workshops are to be confirmed.

There will also be a tranquillity zone and prayer/meditation room available during the summer school.
