They will present “the Four Charters of the Bahá’í Faith”: The Kitáb-i-Aqdas & Tablet of Carmel revealed by Bahá’u'lláh, and Tablets of the Divine Plan and Will and Testament of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, their history, significance and content.

In the afternoons:
- Seminars on community building, discourse and social action, parenting, Hands of the Cause
- Art Workshops

Children and junior youth programmes paralell to the adult programme.

This 2 day course is based on the Five Strategies of The Virtues Project , an International company that was founded in 1991 by three concerned individuals who felt called to do something to counteract rising violence among youth and families.

The Five Strategies of The Virtues Project help us to live more reverent, purposeful lives, to raise children of integrity and compassion, develop a culture of character in our schools, and inspire excellence and service in the workplace. These strategies build foundations for safe and caring communities.

Virtues such as Love, Kindness, Justice, Service, Trustworthiness and Respect are universally valued by people of all faiths and cultures. They offer ways to renew and deepen our connection with the values that benefit all our interactions and awaken the gems within us in order that we may live to our highest values and become the noble beings we truly are.

Aimed at: Anyone who is involved with and/or interested in Education and Spiritual/Moral values regardless of culture, race or Faith group.

Facilitator: Diana Macpherson has many years experience in virtues based education in three continents both in schools as well as communities. She will share real scenarios resulting from the implementation and practice of the virtues strategies that have led to the decrease in violence and bullying, the raising of self-esteem and self-worth and the creation of a harmonious, peaceful, orderly environment in which children and adults can live, learn and work.

A Contemplative and Exploratory weekend on the Beauty of Islam

This weekend aims to rediscover Islam and evaluate its influence on our civilization. We immerse ourselves in the phenomenon of birth and growth of an exotic new world, beginning with the geo-politics of the pre-Islamic era , the life of the Prophet Mohammad, the advent of Islam, the Quran, the Quranic world view, the Islamic civilization, the Islamic science and technology and its influence on the Western science, Arabic words in English language, Islamic literature and Islamic architecture, Islam in the world today, and concluding with the birth of the Baha’i Revelation as the next torch bearer.

The aim is to promote our understanding of Islam. and Islamic civilization. Particularly suited to Baha’is of Christian background, or Muslims close to the Baha’i Faith.

Facilitator is Mansur Mohammadi a Baha’i, who was brought up as a Muslim.

This year Latvian Summer School will be held from 12 August until 15 August 2010, not far from Sigulda, in a guest’s house in Ligatne.

Theme of the School: Arising to Serve

Opening of the School will be on 12 August at 17:00.
Closing – on 15 August at 13:00 and departure after lunch.

We are planning to have lessons for children and junior-youth during the School.

PAYMENT FOR PARTICIPATION:
Children under 6 years old – no payment.
Children from 7 to 15 years old – will have to pay 50% from the cost of participation.

HOW TO GET THERE
You can get there by any bus going from the bus station from Riga to Ligatne.
Buses go every 5-20 minutes. Cost of a ticket is 2.10 Ls (~3.00Euro). It takes 1hour and 30 minutes to get there by bus.

The Albanian Baha’i Summer School this year will take place from August 12-15, 2010.

Course Description

This three-summer certificate program offers pre-youth an opportunity to create a community based on the guiding principles of unity, justice, diversity and consultation. A tight daily schedule is organized that includes formal academic study of the Baha’i teachings, creative expression through the arts, and guided interactive assembly consultation. Students form friendships with others from around the world, friendships that can last a lifetime. The program operates on the Townshend International School campus in the Czech Republic. A caring staff of educational faculty, and a team of experienced youth assistants are on duty at all times to care for the concerns of the students. The care of your children while at Townshend and their safe return to your home is our number one priority.

VENUE: Reykjaskóli school, in Hrútafjordur bay (about 170 km north of Reykjavík)

The main speaker this year is Dr. Shirin Tahzib from the U.K.

The venue is located around 2h drive to the north of Reykjavík. It‘s in the middle of the countryside, by the sea. There is a swimming pool at the school and dormitory rooms for participants to sleep.

The price for full participation with food and accommodation is estimated to around € 100.
